Target Audience Feedback

Promotional Poster and Digipak Feedback:

For our target audience research, we gathered a handful of our friends and fellow students to come and view our illustrations and the drawing of the poster video I did. Our efforts of making them as British Punky as possible worked, and they instantly figured out that "Wink 281" was a punk band, similar to the "modern" American ones, but with the British Punk Attitude thrown in. There were however a few criticisms of the digipak, by people who perhaps hadn't caught on to the whole attitude and message being put across by the digipak. But once we had explained more about "Wink 281" and the message we were trying to put across to the audience they renounced their criticisms.
Video Feedback:

My partner and I used the same handful of people to give us feedback on the video, we sat them down to watch the draft video on the iMac, and we provided an extra narration over the video to essentially explain what would be in the captions if it were a storyboard. Feedback was primarily positive, the story of the video went down well, as well as the comical side of the video. The reasoning behind my idea of having the band perform in a living room was instantly received, I wanted them to perform in the living room to portray the teenage punky attitude of rebelling against your parents, and this is exactly what the target audience picked up on. One of the groups concerns however was the use of members of the band as the parental figures, they expressed that if my partner and I didn't make the differences between father figure and band member apparent then some viewers might get confused. They were also concerned about the crowd element of the video, they explained that we didn't have enough space to have a proper crowd in the video, and it would obstruct the view of the band almost entirely.

What was changed:
  • The band logo will appear on the font of the album, as opposed to a picture of the band in front of a Union Jack image.
  • The idea of having audience shots will be completely erased from the making of the video. Following the target audiences' feedback.
  • Originally, the back of the album was going to have a still from the crowd shots during the production of the video, but of course, after skipping those shots, we will have to change the design of the back.
